I never liked Northern Soul and I still don't get it fully. But I moved up to here (near Wigan) about 18 years ago and tgis is the heartland of NS. Since being here I have been to a couple of 'Pier. Casino, Twisted Wheel' type nights and have to say that a couple of tracks have rubbed off, I think this one is brill.

Fantastic classic northern soul Rimms. Anything NS or Motown (early stuff especially) can still get me cranking the old joints to get on the dance floor!! :D ;)
-
Here you go then Marina.
A Motown 'Old Shool' Pop Quiz. Can you name all 10 befoethe end ?

Haha! Excellent Rimms. Have to admit I only got 2!! I'm a bit useless at remembering song titles and artists, but I do know what I like and there were some great tracks on there. My husband's a bit of an anorak with this kind of music especially so I'll get him to see how many he can name :)
-
If you can remember the 1960s (like me) I guarantee you will like this, if the Fortunes - Bringing on Back the Good Times was not enough, have a look at the video images from the 60s....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlfRq4FpYWA
-
absolutely brilliant Rimms, oh the memories.[^] :)
-
For someone who claims the 70s is my era, I have hardly got past the 60s, anyway I'm working my way up.
One from when I used to do the School Disco (Halewood Grange Comp) to boost the 'School Fund' whatever that was !!
Gary Pucket and the Union Gap - Young Girl
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_Ch1Yi8BT0&feature=related
-
Last one from me for a bit (still stuck in the 60s)and I have to cook the tea.
I don't get this 'rave' type dancing the kids do today, then I watched this and thought about what my parents would have made about it. By the way, I think the girl dancers look great !
The McCoys - Hang on Sloopy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gi1WXYHHc2s&NR=1&feature=fvwp
-
Hang on Sloopy! Oh my, that takes me back :)
Still great to listen to!
-

Bringing it up to date just a little. This is an album track from 1974 from my favourite band when I was a teenager.
10CC - Hotel (From the album Sheet Music).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcLc1wZCSGk
-
Never mind Ken Bruce, Here's a "pop master" question; Where did 10 cc get their name from ??
-
Im sure the answer will come to me in a minute. ;)
-
10cc was a name dreamed up by the multi talented Jonathan King.
Hey Russ, you were on a roll there, I love the 'bringing it up to date ' comment. 37 years ago 1974 !!!

As good as the Temptations ????
Well, some may say so, I really love theis band,I think Philippe Wynne had one of the best voices in Soul music, probably only bettered by David Ruffin for me, it would have been fab to have seen them perform together.
Have a read up on Philippe Wynne, a really tragic and sad end to a truly great singer and one who can carry the title of a True Legend.
