My sister and brother in law have been travelling along the coast from Fethiye to Cirali for the past couple of weeks.
On 3 separate occasions large boats covered in Turkish flags have come close to the shore and loads of people on the beach were waving flags.
They said it was good natured and nationalistic.
I asked if it was last Friday which was Zafer Bayram and they said yes in Patara, but had also happened in Cirali and Adrasan on different dates.
My Brother in law asked someone on the beach and he said people want like Ataturk, he was a bit sheepish and whispered but didnt want to say more.
Has anyone else witnessed anything like this anywhere?
Not seen it in Fethiye.
