We will agree to differ Scunner,  We have done the long drives when the kids were younger.
Down to Liverpool to see my parents and over to Ireland via the ferry to see my husband's parents.... scenic routes made no difference, particulalry when you have seen them umpteentimes  it's still a drag driving.
My husband gets set holiday,  so we would rather have the extra time in Turkey rather
than the extra time on the road.
Sorry  Marytheresa, my kids did not enjoy travelling, no matter how interesting we tried
to make it for them like most kids they just wanted to get to their destination.

These are the days of the personal DVD player and Nintendo DS - kids don't mind long journeys so much anymore  :)

And Scunner is still a wee bit of a tourist.  Five miles up the road is a day out ;)

I think the age of the child plays a big part the younger they are the bigger the adventure seems to be, but i do agree with scunner electronic games dvd players built in the head rest really do make a difference and no matter how old you are a big ice cream at every stop well seems pretty good to me  8)
