Residency/ Passport problem
« on: February 13, 2010, 17:13:26 PM »
We applied for residency on 3rd December. Mugla office say passport & residency posted out to Fethiye Passport Police late December but nobody now knows where the passports & residency documents are.

We have been in to the Fethiye Passport Police, spoke to post office, spoke to British Consular who say they can't get involved, & now do not know where to go for help.

Any advise from anyone out there appreciated.

British Embassy will not be able to assist - this would affect their time drinking tea. Has anyone ever met a more useless load of bastar*s?

Do you have an application number? When we applied for our residency we had an application number which meant that if we wanted to track the progress of the paperwork we could.

You may find that it will turn up,it is only February!Ours took about 8 weeks to complete after applying and that was reasonably quick for Turkey.

He is a turkish translator, amongst other things, very helpful, he is dealing with the people you need to on virtually a daily basis.
His office is on the back road coming out of Fethiye, on the same side as Gold Computers but up a bit further, he has a sign standing on the grass beside a barbers, the office is behind the barbers and down the steps.

Think you will find it to be very slow for Turkey. Residency takes about 3 working days up here.

We sorted out all the paperwork for the application in one day and handed it into the policeman to be sent off. We asked for the application number and had him write on the photocopies of our passport details so that if we were stopped by the traffic police they would understand why we did not have passports. He also advised us that as we were applying from Fethiye it may take up to about 10 weeks. Has this changed?

I know things can vary depending on where you are living in Turkey as it is influenced by where the offices which deal with the paperwork are. A friend in Usak was given their citizenship within one day of application as she was working near the administration department for the government.
