how much money ytl can you take out of turkey ? would you be ok changing £2000 and taking it back to uk . to use for your next holiday in turkey . thanks

You can take as much as you like out but be aware that at both your airports (Dalaman & UK) they have the right to seize it if they believe it has come via illegal means and you can't prove otherwise. I think up to £5k is technically allowed at your UK arrival customs. That's the negative answer, to be honest nobody is going to bat an eyelid over £2k, just get it in larger notes and stick it in your purse.

I bought £10 000 out to Turkey with me once in cash cos was cheaper than sending electronically and needed it here for furniture etc.

Anyway no problems but as it was a big envelope stuffed with money i had to put it in my bag, I was paranoid though when my bag had to leave me at security for X Ray, I always feel someone in front of me will pick my bag up after being scanned!!

If you take more than 10,000 Euros in cash into the UK from a country outside the EU you are required to declare to Customs. If you are taking more than 10,000 Euros from the UK to a country outside the EU you also must declare it.

Yes but if the rate goes down to 2.5 next year his £2000 will only buy 5000 lira for his hols. If he changers it today, he's have an extra 700 lira waiting to spend next year.

Thats the gamble - if we knew the answer we'd all be rich. Look at the folk rushing out to buy TL in the UK in July when it was 2.5. If they're going to Turkey now they've well lost out
