They must be ripe for a takeover at 10p a share. Valued at £90m now from £900m last winter.

Virgin?

Might be worth a punt but I'm not bothering after paying 22p for RBS last year.  Looking long term at that one though.

I have just booked with FlyThomasCook for flights in February 2012.
I used my credit card.
To fly with any other airline is twice the price and means changes in Istanbul.
I will be watching the news until February and try to be ready to jump quickly onto another airline should the worst happen.
If the worst does happen the other airlines will be looking to hike prices, probably.

Lots of reports here in the UK BUT all of them emphasising that flights and holidays booked are SAFE.  I think the price of flights and holidays will be expensive but I would doubt very much if they went to the wall. Continued problems in Egypt are not helping and along with the euro, it's not a good time for tour operators. We have to promote Turkey and the good exchange rate to ensure that regular flights are maintained.

Amca which arrival airport have you booked with TC for if you dont mind me asking, I am desparate to get a flight to Dalaman between the 10th and 13th February but can only find flights with changes via Istanbul:(I would be happy to book with Thomas Cook and just keep an eye on things like you are going to do, as someone else has said I dont want to add to their problems by not using them, thanks for any info you can give :)

I was checking earlier and the TC flights I could find for February were only Gatwick to Antalya if that helps any.

We've also booked with Thomas Cook for a holiday in Crete in July.I changed it earlier from one booked for January when I knew I was having a problem(Decision Made topic). That change cost me about £140.I thought it was better to change the holiday, rather than cancel and lose the money I had already paid.I don't believe they will fold but it does look bad.I didn't know that they were now owned by a German consortium.Seems to me everything in Euroland is precarious.Might buy shares as suggested and will check the price today.Takes my mind off other things ;)

Thanks Keith :), I had seen the Antalya ones and whilst I am happy to fly to Antalya I am not brave enough to try and get from Antalya to Calis by myself, a private transfer is just too much there and back :(
