Farewell Shane
« on: December 03, 2011, 11:09:47 AM »
The "Little Wizard" Shane Williams bow's out of international Rugby Union today in his final international test match in a friendly fixture against Australia at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff today.

What a tremendous career this player has had, an exemplary ambassador for Welsh Rugby, showing skill levels and a vision that has changed the way wings approach the modern game.

Well done Shane !, let's hope the "boy's" can step up to the mark and give you the send off you deserve !  :)

A tribute to Shane with some of his try's.

The Man Who Was Too Small

This is what some people said about Shane Williams when he hit the international scene. I have just seen his final game for Wales where he scored his try in extra time. Wonderful. Storybook stuff. Like you said on your boots - "Bye, bye".

When Shane was playing, there was always the chance of some magic.  There was always a feeling of disappointment if he was not playing for some reason.  I don't know about too small - in my day, at 5'9" and 13.5 stone, he would have been playing prop !

When did he grow the extra 2 inches? Wonderful things these Polish cryo-labs!

Watched the match over at the Nil bar in Calis, it was great to see him get a try at the end and a great match to watch even though we lost.

It was a shame that it wasn't a better game for his "swan song", but the script couldn't have been written better with a last gasp try for Shane (well it could  have, it could have been the winning try !!!). Very touched by the post match arrival of his wife and 2 children at the end of the game (with their No. 11 shirts with Dadi on)and the teams and crowds emotional reaction.

Interesting !  When I looked at his profile a couple of years ago, he was 1 inch taller and 1 stone heavier than me.  According to his current profile, I now appear to be taller; he is obviously not ageing as well as me.:D
