Tax on Pensions
« Reply #10 on: January 18, 2012, 19:17:23 PM »
I have an appointment with my accountant next week to get final affairs in order now permanently retired. I will ask him what experience he has about this, I mentioned it to the assistant who took my booking and she asked me to check whether I had received tax exemption on the contributions I had paid into the pension, then I would have to pay tax on the benefits no matter whether I reside here or abroad.
We will see !

Just been to see the accountant, he is under the impression that pensions paid from the UK will be treated as taxable income in Turkey and subject to as much as 35% tax! Now I'm really confused !

Oops ! Further update, the accountant has done some more checking and has confirmed that private pensions made direct to Turkey are not subject to tax. I have to get a form signed when over in Turkey and he can then square it with the revenue over here.
