Is there a specific limit of how much money you can take out of the UK?

I don't think there is any limit, but you could check with your bank. You will need to do a SWIFT transfer to your bank in Turkey, so you will need to know the SWIFT and IBAN codes for the receiving bank. The UK bank will make a charge and you need to check with the receiving bank what they will charge to accept the funds.

But that only applies if you are carrying cash with you, not if you transfer between banks

Carrying with you there is a 15k limit i think, and you have to fill in a shed full of forms once past security at the departure airport too. Not sure on bank sent limits but make sure you get your sending bank to accept the charges and not leave it to the foreign bank as it will coost a lot more.

The limit before declaring the cash is the equivalent of 10,000 Euros. So, at today's rate, it's just under £8,000.

There really is no limit but if it's a lot then you may be asked to prove how you got it.

Using a bank transfer can be very expensive so it will pay to shop around the Established money transfer companies.
