Very good debate but if people think the cost of winter fuel bills are more in turkey than the uk think again how does this grab you my last months gas, electric, poll tax bill for one month.Gas 157.25 pounds,electric,75.80,polltax 188.00 total 421.05p and thats for a two bedroomed detached house in surrey.

Remove the poll tax payment from your calculations as its not relevant.Gas bottle now 75tl and some peoples electric bills are over  almost 300tl a month. Then once the winter over there's the yearly painting job because of the dampness over the winter.Think it will then be on a par with your own bills.I personally dont get the cold weather payment as when I left the UK I also told all the relevant authorities etc.Still wouldnt come back to the Uk though and count myself lucky to be one of the few able to follow my dreams and live in this beautiful country with wonderful friends.

It's no good comparing really as it adds nothing to the argument that if you do not live in the EEC or a designated European country then you shouldn't be getting the payment.

Saying you have paid in all your life via NI payments is a bit like going on long term sick when you are actually ok to work. I think it's called benefit fraud. Some can live with it and others can't. Some get caught and some don't.

I stıll feel that leavıng the UK should also mean all who have moved to EU and EEA countrıes as ıf you have left you have left and all should forfeit the payment or else all should get it. No discrimination should apply.

Why should you not get it?  After all there are plenty of people living outside the UK who claim, and get, invalidity benefit even though they can prop the bar up every night!

Because its fraud .

Is that FRAUD?

I wonder how many of those claiming it illegally have moaned about those who claim for being unable to work and claim benefits - even though they are fit to work?
