My son is getting an Ipad. I've been looking on the apple store website and icloud kept coming up as a storage method for all your photos, music etc. Am I right in thinking that all this media is stored in the cloud rather than on your ipad eg you cant access it unless you are connected to the net?
Secondly I could not find a cost. I assume this is not free.
Any opinions on whether its good bad or indifferent would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Yes and no

It is stored in the cloud but you can have it locally on your iPad as well. Think of it as a backup facility. It is ideal if you have more than one device as any things you want to share, for example a photo you take, will then be available on the other device

You get a certain amount of storage free (5 GB) and after that there is a charge - not a lot though
