Bank interest rate drop ?

We are back in the UK for a few weeks ( nice to be away from the `phew heat wave ` )    but a friend skyped me from Turkey this morning and said the bank interest rate ( Garanti ) have dropped their interest rate to 9% ??     I  know interest rates vary according to how much you have invested.. but is this `drop` general ? It was 10.75%  when we left at the end of July.

TEB have dropped their's to 10% to 10.25% from 10.75%.

I asked in Garanti this morning and was told that the best they can give is 9.5%

If you have internet banking (e-accounts) with Garanti it's 10%.  Went down from 10.50% since last "pay day".

Yapi Kredi have reduced their rate to 10.25% from 10.75% for time deposit upto 45 days - less than that for longer periods. Orange account at Ing was still 10% when I looked.

anybody no why they have dropped the interest rate?
When central bank have left the interest as it is.

Finansbank are doing a 6 month bond at 10.5%

ING Orange account has dropped to 9.5% now.

Ing bank high interest account has dropped from 11% to 9.5% and yes the Orange account is now 9.50%. We were offered 9.85% at Garanti but we are waiting for another month or 2 to see what happens.
