Finansbank Drop in Interest Rate
« on: December 19, 2012, 08:50:40 AM »
I was concerned that my Finansbank 30 day account interest payments had dropped drastically, so I asked Efsun for figures.  This was the information she sent:

On  JUNE  2012 interest rate was  % 8.45

On  JULY   2012 interest rate was % 7.70

On AUGUST  2012 interest  rate was % 7.50

On SEPTEMBER 2012 interest rate was % 6

On OCTOBER 2012 interest rate was % 5.50

On NOVEMBER 2012 interest rate was % 5.5

Your account is 30 days  for 30 days account at the moment interest rate si % 5.50 but when we change your account with  32 days rate is % 7 .

And also we have another tipe of account which ‘s name is  EGG account. It is rate is %8.75 for first 32 days after 32 days rate will change.

What are you getting at your bank ?

That's annoying - especially when it doesn't make any difference to you.

I got 8.8 % for 6 months at TEB last month.

Apparently the double egg account is the best interest rate in finansbank,i changed this in November.

Please check.

Would some kind sole explain how the 32 day account works, ie when does the interest go on. Also are there any restrictions on drawing money out that would affect the interest. Finally, what is the max amount a non resident can have in their account ( if any)

The interest goes wherever you ask them to put i.
If its the double egg account you can draw without penalties, if its a standard 32 day account which it sounds like you're talking about, you will lose all your interest for the month if you access the account during the 32 days.
There is no maximum allowed in the account, but you need to check how much is protected should the bank fail.  Think it was 50000 tl and went up to 75000 recently, but maybe someone else can confirm.

Can anyone confirm whether this increase from 50,0000 to 75,000 is correct?

Thanks
