Not a social networking site as such - meant to be more for business contacts, the spam stuff they send is probably due to someone you know who is a member and have somehow passed on their email contacts to them - or had them scammed.

I am on Linkedin.

It's for groups of proffesionals (no pun) engineers, managers etc. But as I don't have your Email addresses I doubt if it is me.

I am on it, and they send legitimate emails - but I get loads claiming to be from them and aren't. So it's the same as fake Paypal emails, not LinkedIn spamming particularly.

Linked in is a site that joins together people who specialise in there own field of work and they join forums to discuss aspects of their particular trade or job . It also is used by recrutement agencys to target people who have the skills they need.  I myself am a user and am in many of the forums that relate to my trade in the Oil Industry and have learned a lot of usefull information and made lots of contacts that have proved very usefull over the years. It is also used  to give advice and pass on tips to people new to our Industry and advise them on the best way to get a start or training. The Site covers Jobs ranging from Acountants to Zoo keepers, lol  just about any job is represented on the forums.  It is free to register and as i said a mine of usefull information if you are willing to trawl through the  forums.

Not willing to trawl as I am far too busy. Also I am retired so the only info they can get from me is how to retire and enjoy life. Shall just delete the postings I received and try to get hotmail to stop letting the emails through.

Like you quackers, I have received a few requests from those I had business dealings with prior to my retirement.  I just ignore them, they eventually dry up, although my first was some 3 years ago!!!
