Property Insurance - Change in the law?
« on: May 15, 2013, 17:42:17 PM »
Hi Folks. I have just been told by my bank that the procedure for home insurance has changed and they now need an id number, not a tax number, as was previously the case. They are asking for my residency id, which is a problem, as we don't have residency. I hope I have been misinformed or a lot of us are gpoing to have a problem. How will non-residents pay for the DASK, which is mandatory? Any advice will be gratefully received. Thanks,  John

Use Intasure, you won't have a problem for either.

I renewed dask a couple of weeks ago no problem. This has been going around for a wee while but doesn't seem to be happening.

I renewed Dask policy last week and ,according to Finans bank manager the i.D. requirement starts later on this year.
So as usual even the professionals have no idea what rules are to be used.

We renewed our Dask last week, and although we were not asked fror an ID number, we was told that they could no longer find our property on the computer for Dask purposes using the address that has been used for the last 7-8 years.  Eventually, we found our place on the computer using the 'new' street address based on the recently installed street signs at the end of the road.  So we now have a 'proper' address apparently, my worry is how many other organisations will not be able to find us in the next few years, including perhaps most worryingly our residency which shows our 'old' address.  Don't want to be changing those in a hurry based on the bureaucracy and costs associated with getting them in the first place. >:(

Reminds me of when we had to ask the postman what our house number was. He started at one end of the street, pointing and counting..."1, 3, 5! Here, 5!" So that was us, number 5 and all was fine and everything worked.

Then one day a man came round with a bag of numbers and a tube of silicon and was sticking "official" numbers to people's houses. He did the same thing, pointing at each house/plot in turn and counting "1, 3, 5..."

Sadly he had started his counting from the other end of the street and with a huge glob of silicon stuck a number 7 on our house :(
