Which bank in Fethiye should I choose?
« on: August 30, 2013, 13:02:26 PM »
I know this is a 50 Shades of Grey question (and probably just as boring) but me and TA will be in Calis on the 8th Sept for 2 weeks and we will be opening a bank account whilst there.

From the information I have read on here, I have gleaned the following:

<> Do not choose ING under any circumstances

<> Finans Bank are pretty good and their Double Egg Account seems a decent bet

Good online facilities are pretty much essential but the bank having a branch in Fethiye would also be good.

Finans, or Garanti (with Alper) I would say. I always found Alper to be excellent, and will go the extra mile to make things a bit easier for customers. Even when he is on holiday or at weekends.

Garanti online services are user friendly and in English, login password is text to UK mobile number, easy to pay bills, transfer between accounts, top up turkcell and data on dongle etc. have only used fethiye branch along from main Migros, and not the one near harbour and they have several English speakers, but avoid Mondays and Fridays as it can be a long wait!

Have found  Garanti a great bank to deal with for 11 years. The accounts are flexible the internet easy to use from UK or TR best exchange rates on internet service too. Staff efficient and always someone to speak English.                       Worldwide operation. Lots of awards 2012 including best bank in Turkey by FT.

Thank you very much for the responses!

I'm thinking Garanti Bank then. That so many can speak so positively about any bank is sufficient recommendation for me.

And I'm actually feeling giddy about opening a bank account ...... oh dear, oh dear.

When I opened my Finans account ten years ago you didn't do much, they did it all - you just sat there getting plied with sweets, coffee and fags.
