UK credit/debit cards replacement
« on: October 19, 2013, 09:00:16 AM »
Has anybody had to replace a UK credit/debit card whilst staying in Fethiye?

As we stay in Keciler we get one delivery of mail a week to the local mosque so that's a no go.

Has anybody had their cards sent by courier and to where?

Any info will be most welcome.

UK credit/debit cards replacement

I had to have a new card after the a2b fiasco.
First direct posted it to our house in Calis, took about 3 weeks from the date it was ordered. Don't know how soon it was posted after that.
They very sensibly posted it in a plain handwritten envelope. They're absolute stars. if only all banks were as good as them.

In your situation I think I would opt to have it delivered to an address in Fethiye or Calis. Some people have po boxes, maybe one of them would let you use their PO box address?

Most banks won't use a PO Box address as far as I know.

We lost a Nationwide card a few years ago and had to cancel it.

We contacted Nationwide and they said that they'd send a new card immediately. After waiting 2 weeks we contacted them again and they said that they'd send a second replacement and if the first one turned-up we should destroy it as they'd now cancelled it.

After a further 2 weeks we contacted them again and were told that, although they accepted our Turkish address for the account, they wouldn't send replacement cards to Turkey for "security reasons".

So, after a month of waiting for 2 different replacement cards to arrive we had discovered that neither of them had been sent.

*ankers !!

We had the same problem with Nationwide. When we went back to England we changed our address to our daughters address so now if we get new cards she just passes them onto someone who is coming out  or sends them courier to us.

Halifax said they wouldn't post to Turkey.
In fact they haven't even posted to UK either.
They said they would email the necessary letter for signing and they posted that to the UK and were in Turkey.
15 minutes waiting in a queue to speak to them too.

Total incompetents.

Thanks for the info.

Joan could you let me have the details of the courier your daughter used please? It looks like our best course of action.
