Carretta beach restaurant ???
« on: August 16, 2017, 00:17:01 AM »
Hi has anyone been to the bar this year that was always known as " Helens" bar , ?
I have been to Calis beach for the past 15 years and love that beach and resterant but every year it seems to change hands so I am not sure what it's called now , the last couple of years it seemed a lot more busier , but maybe that was just the Sansatori guests stepping out for a wonder ??

Carretta is now the Aroma Beach Club. It is looking really good, has had a makeover, new beds, tables and chairs. Cant say about food as have never been but it is a lot busier than before. I think it will harm the places further along which is a shame because we like Guvans.

I think there may be some confusion. The bar now called Aroma at the end of the prom was called Carretta.
This is not the bar previously called Helen,s also called Carretta, don't know if this now has a new name, this on the far side of Telmessos Hill in what I believe is referred to as either Yaniklar or Ciftlik beach,at the opposite end to the Sansatori Complex.
Its a fair walk from Calis haven't been there for a couple of years so cannot give a report.

Is it this place?

If so it is definitely still going - or rather it was in June.

We often cycle up there for breakfast.

It changed ownership at the time the Barut hotel opened and was done up quite a bit.

There are often Turkish families having big family meals there.

Helen's was the 1881..she was married to Dust.. They did the best Turkish breakfast ever.. They split up and she became gravely ill.. I may be mistaken but I think she has since died.?

So sorry to hear that Helen may have died. I knew her when she was married to Suat and it did not work out so she was working with Mehmet. She had a heart attack I believe but recovered.I know her health was not good.  Last time I spoke to her was at the airport.

Suatts 1881 was probably the first restaurant we visited 12 years ago when Vicri was cooking before he went to Hisaronou,I wonder what happened to him.

before Helen was involved with the 1881, they had the place in the picture. Was a bit different then
