Just a word of advice if you decide to take the ashes out by boat. Both my in-law's ashes where buried at sea. Both ceremonies where lovely with a Minister present. However, the skipper of the boat, who had done this before gave us some good advice. Winds can change really easily at sea so the ashes were sewn into a canvas bag with a weight at the bottom. When the moment came they were dropped into the sea and a wreath thrown in, then various people threw flowers. Even though both services where sad, it was a lovely way for them to be put to rest.
