On Sunday we abandoned the roast dinner plan in favour of a BBQ in the garden. Today, the snow is coming in horizontally.

I liked the summing up by someone living in N.E. Scotland that was quoted on Radio 5 this morning: "Last week were building sandcastles  on the beach with our kids. This afternoon we  will be building a snowman".

As an American comedian once said when he visited Edinburgh. Scotland is the only place you can get trench foot and sunstroke in the same day!!

My son has done a 60 mile bike ride to Mt Snowdon yesterday. The plan was to walk up (& down)Mt Snowdon today then ride back on Thursday. He woke up at the hostel to over 2" of snow this morning and still snowing so they are now romping round a forest instead. All in aid of Cancer research. Hopefully the sponsors will all still pay up! A group of 12 or so apprentices from his college hope to have raised about £3000 from this 1 event.
