The moon last night
« on: January 04, 2013, 11:15:00 AM »
The sky ast night was pretty clear, yet only the bottom half of the moon was visible.  We watched it for an hour and it remained the same throughout.  I convinced myself it was a partial eclipse, but can't find anything online about it.  Did anyone else see it and have any ideas.  If it was cloud, it was certainly a weird effect.

I can't help you with the astronomical answer as to a partial eclipse or not, but your post does remind me of that great moon gazing song, 'I see the Moon and the Moon sees me', here is the first couple of verses below, I prefer it as marching song pace rather than the more usual lullaby.

I see the moon, the moon sees me
shining through the leaves of the old oak tree
Oh, let the light that shines on me
shine on the one I love.

Over the mountain, over the sea,
back where my heart is longing to be
Oh, let the light that shines on me
shine on the one I love.

Have I gone right off subject here, and am I losing my grip of reality??

Has Christmas/New Year been hard on you, ROFL!!

I think I should add that this view of the moon was on our journey back from Dalaman, so was on the move and still it was always half dark and the shadow was weirdly slightly curved, almost like a partial eclipse...
