The present Mrs H wants to try restuarants away from the front this year. Does not have to be traditional Turkish establishments.

Where would you recommend and if you could add rough directions (or sokak numbers) we would be very grateful.

(Did search "restaurants away from the front" but only got "Hassled")

My choices away from the front but still in Calis would be Meeting Point and Mangal (bridge to Dolphin roundabout street) and Sardunya (Scarlett Street).

Pasa Kebab in Fethiye - Just up on the right on the back street behind Finansbank. A fantastic establishment H:D

Megri Lokantasi in the Paspatur in Fethiye - my favourite place for Iskender:D

Thanks both.

We have tried and enjoyed Meeting Point and Mangal (both within my walking range :)) and especially enjoyed our first visit to Sardunya ;)

We also know Megri but not Pasa Kebab.

I would add Cafe Inn for a very nice quiet meal, Bati Restaurant across the road from there for a very nice meal especially the curries and a good friendly atmosphere, Mosiac Bahce of course and if you feel a little more adventurous try The Winehouse in Uzumlu, we would be delighted to escort you there one night ;)

Thanks for that Tink. Mosaic Bache was on our list of course.

Re The Winehouse, Brenda was saying only last night that we might ask you to take us there so that's a date:D. I should warn you however that I won't be taking up her other suggestion that I should pay.

Well I would have said Mozaik Bahce but I thought you meant Calis!

Further afield, I reckon you can't beat Sahil Lokantasi next to Migros for lunch, top Turkish fare  :)

Oztoklu Restaurant in the everyday Fruit and Veg Market is worth a visit if only for the entertainment value of watching someone using the stairs to get up to the toilet. ;)

My apologies - your second suggestion is the kind of place I was meaning but didn't specify properly :-\. Just as long as it's within fairly easy reach really.

The Dawn Beach Brothers Bar is good same street as Meeting Point and further up nearly opposite the Dawn Beach bar run by Eko, also we wnt to the Turkish place on the corner opposite the twins supermarket (sorry I have forgotton the name but you cant miss it) we had lovely pides and meatballs there the other week, nice friendly owners and good prices too.
