If you want Turkish close by try Oben & you can even watch the whole family cooking it in the kitchen while you wait

Guvens for me from there. Maybe a 5-10 min walk. Go in the other direction and there are one or two other restaurants but I can't comment on what will be open this year or how good the food will be.

Oben's for me too, great home style cooking, in a tranquil garden setting, with friendly family service, comprehensive menu and "Mamma's" chips are to die for !  :)

Is Oben the one near Guven's? Is it his sister still that runs it? I'm sure it was in the past.

...I think Guven's has moved now hasn't it ?, but Oben's is on the bend just before you get to the promenade. Oben himself runs the place normally, but sometimes his sister or cousin is there, service equally as friendly and efficient.

mkwhite - I understand that there is a useful Guide to Restaurant Locations under the Calis Bar & Restaurant Q & Discussion Section.

Might be worth a look ;).

mkwhite,

the Surf club is 100m from Sunset and is great for lunches (pides are good) and they also have a great BBQ night with fire dancers etc (well they have the last few years anyway).

Gaven's is just past the Dolmus "station" on the beach front heading toward Calis and great for day time and evenings.

The Oben is another 150m down the track on the left as you join the prom.

After that there are many more choices depending on what you want.

If you take a look at my bike ride video on you-tube you'll get the idea (although its actually the return trip).
