Bostans Closing
« on: December 27, 2012, 20:24:08 PM »
Although I think it is pretty much common knowledge now to all here, just letting everyone know that we (Carol and Rcep) are closing Bostan Restaurant and Hotel. We have had a really wonderful year but due to a massive third increase in our hotel rent and much work needing doing to repair the roof and huge leaks inside the bedrooms for which the owner is unwilling to contribute, we have decided to call it a day. We are still open at the moment but will be closing a week today, so will be having a final Quiz Night next Thursday (the 3rd) and a big knees up afterwards. No plans to re-venture back into tourism.
To recoup some of the money we spent we are selling everything (and I mean everything) that we bought for the hotel and have a list of prices so if you need anything (from wardrobes and bedding to chairs and crockery) please pop in, call me or message me. We will also from New Year until the Thursday night we leave, be selling all food half price to empty our kitchen.
Thank you to all our customers over the last 4 years, and to all the wonderful friends we have made. We hope to see you all when we are out socializing (a new one for us!) :D

Aw Carol and Recep how awful to have this happen to you again, when will these landlords ever learn.  You have worked so hard and built up such a good business.  Wishing you well for the future.

Really sorry to hear this after all the  hard work getting the place ready and clearing the gardens etc. It must be heartbreaking for you all.I can't imagine Calis without a "Bostan's" somewhere so who knows ..in the future a better option might materialise for you. You will be missed thats for sure. Good luck whatever you decide to do but enjoy your  break and  socialising . You have earned it .

No, these landlords will never learn. You would think that the building owners would fix things like leaking roofs or showers hanging of the wall - but I remember Cenk telling me they do nothing at all - when Cenk ran the Camelia. Of course if a roof is leaking into a bedroom and the owner says they are not interested you either pay to sort it yourself or lose a room's income for the year.

Sadly the case is usually that the owner sees someone doing well and whacks the rent up - but they move out and the building sits empty for year after year and the owner gets nothing more than greater deterioration of the building and rather than a regular, reasonable rental coming in, no rent at all.

Good luck to Carol & Recep, it's tragic that they are in one of the few places in the World where landlords often have assets and no brains.

I'm really sorry to hear this news :(  I really enjoyed the evening my son & I spent at Bostans, lovely atmosphere, great food & company  :)

When will the Turks learn?, never is the conclusion I've finally come to :(  No vision, no real business sense at all!  They live for today, 'Very few' have any real conception of building-blocks - long term goals etc :(

I remember somebody saying to me a few years back "if you offer a Turk 1.000tl today or 2.000tl next week, 99% would take the 1,000tl"  How true that has turned out to be.

Very best wishes to you both in whatever future direction you follow.  I'm sure you'll make a success of it, whatever it is  :)

Good luck to you both

These stereotypes are all well and good but very insulting and unfair on the decent guys. If I offered Cenk 1000tl this week or 2000tl next week he'd wait a week, he's a git like that :D

I feel really sorry for Recep and and Carol, they put their heart and soul into that place as well as a lot of money, I would like to thank them though for all the great nights we had there over the last year including raising money for Animal Aid  :) Im sure they will be back one day and I wish them luck for the future.  ;)

Our pool and darts night will now continue at Guvens for the rest of the season.

Looking forward to New Years Eve at Bostans :D see you all there  ;)
