Title: Contraception for the Developing World.
Post by: Jacqui Harvey on July 11, 2017, 10:16:18 AM
Programme on this morning that a programme of contraception education is going to be started in W.Africa to educate girls and woman about family planning.  British Government are paying for it.  In the long run this may be a good idea to stop unwanted and starving children.

Amazing 214 million women in the developing world are not using contraception.    This is why there are so many appeals to feed starving children.  The women just have one baby after another from the time they are 14 years old.
Would be good if some men in Africa cared about the babies they are making. They don't.

This was a big point made. But since men tend to be obstinate about their "rights" to control women, an important development is contraception that is invisible to men - e.g. injections or medication.

If the men folk were "docked" their tackle this could have a significent impact on birth rates.   How can you control your woman

if you are "rudderless. ??         ;)

If I remember correctly it does take two  ;)  ;)  ;)

Would be good if some men in Africa cared about the babies they are making. They don't.

Which is precisely why they NEED educating.

It takes two to MAKE a baby but only one actually HAS it. Which I believe we are agreed is a vital part of the problem.

Will the religious leaders in these countries back contraception ? Not only the culture is a guide to the way of life that backs up women being put in the vulnerable position in society I worked in Women's Aid and we were not only dealing with cultural  differences.

Perhaps this will change now that we have discovered that God is a woman?
