Think mine will be locked soon cos keep getting texts from Telsim. The phones are so expensive over here will never be able to afford a new one.  [:(!]

My mobile was locked to the o2 network and it would have cost £10-£15 to get it unlocked.Instead i bought a brand new Motorola from Carphone Warehouse with £15 of call time for £24.99.I have put a one roam sim card in it so calls from turkey to the uk will be .27p per min. There is no expiry time on the credit or sim and it works in 150 countries.

boo I got a motorola for 109 tlr its basic but functional. Migros also sell mobile phones but you have to send away for them and it takes five days but you can get a Seimens for around 89 tlr. The same phone is 115 lira in Turkcell! and the basic nokia is 120 lira.  I was advised by a Turkish friend of mine DONT get a second hand or reconditioned Turkish mobile but he did not say the reason why.

Is that .27p OR 27p a minute?
How much are local calls in Turkey?
If it's .27p a minute everywhere then I think all of us will be heading down to Carphone Warehouse.

My mobile had to have a new Sim card last month, old one had expired, it's never been registered & when I asked about registering chap just shrugged his shoulders. Does this mean it's likely to be switched off?

Think it is all phones that were not bought in Turkey that will be locked if using a turkish sim card, it doesn't matter the make or network.
Thanks for your help Linda1953 looks like I will be heading to Migros on payday
