The Peking will be closing this Winter. We spoke to Jane at the sister Peking In Icmeler. The only reason being the she is going to China with her child to visit family and her husband is going to the Icmeler place to oversee a revamp. No other reason!.

Perhaps one reason for a lot of early closures is due to the fact that with XL going down the tubes there are 3,000 less tourists in the area as against the numbers for last year.
This was relayed to me by a hotellier who has suffered from the knock on effect.

We have just spent 4 days in Icmeler and had a night and a day out in Marmaris. Both places still very busy for the time of year. Seems like July and August were very busy in both resorts but have gone quiet now (according to everyone we spoke to) Having said that it was much much busier than Hisaronu and Calis.

It could be that the tour operator packages tend to use the marmaris area more than fethiye area especially on late deals. We have found this when searching flights with accom as a cheaper alternative to flight only. The other reason is that not as many people know about Hisaronu, Oludeniz, Ovacik, calis and surrounding areas and many who I speak to, who have been to Turkey, frequently return to the marmaris area.

I am sure that you are right. We have met dozens of people who have never heard of Fethiye either.

Mercury is right - (mind you she originates from the Socialist Republic of West Yorkshire so she is ALWAYS right!!)  ;)

We went to the BBQ in December last year - a really good night - food was very good - all for about 5 YTL -  I couldn't believe how good it was - even my 81 yr old mother thought it was good!

We have always had a good experience when we eat there - breakfast - lunch - dinner (that's tea for people from Yorkshire) and we prefer to go there for our "safe bet - consistently good quality meals"

I am getting a bit worried, we are flying out tomorrow night, just for a week. we are taking my Mum for a holiday, and getting a bit worried about all this talk of places closing early and the weather not being too good. I know it's October and expect the weather to be cooler, but when we came out the same time last year it was lovely. Yes it was a bit cooler in the evenings but not too cold. Oh well what will be will be, I am still looking forward to the break, and it's got to be better than what it is over here at the moment. :) only thing is Terry likes to go diving, and am wondering if it is going to be too cold to dive[?]

Sea temperature still not bad, most dive centres are still open.

What you have to remember jacx, is that to those of us who live here all year round, it is a bit cold now, however, for those of you coming from colder places, it's still going to feel pretty warm here. It's all a case of what you are used to. I can't promise there will be no rain, but who can? Looking at the weather we have had over the last few days it's been really hot in the daytime, but cool at night.

As for finding places to eat and drink, yes some places may be closing, and I really don't think this is happening any earlier than in previous years, but you will still find plenty of bars and restaurants open to choose from.

With regards to the diving, I'm not sure when this type of activity carries on til, but the sea is maybe cool, but far from freezing at the moment.

Don't worry, I'm sure you will have a great holiday.
