Date palms

Deos anyone know what is killing the date palms.I've heard its some sort of black and white beatle.It seems to attack the palm and the middle just dies.Does anyone know what this is or how to cure the problem?

Gary, this problem has killed several of the palms in our garden. The gardener said that this beetle came from Egypt and has devestated palm trees all across Spain & Italy and the problem has now reached Turkey.

I don't think there is any way to safeguard against this, it will be sad if we loose all of the palms down on the prom.

I Don't think so, this beetle gets right into the core of the plant and lays hundreds of eggs that produce brubs that grow to the size of a coctail sausage. They destroy the tree very quickly.

it is rhynchophorus ferrugineus.It is dangerous for palm.Please contact with  fethiye ilçe tarim.I know it because i am an agricultural engineer
