Coconut Oil
« on: April 21, 2014, 08:53:09 AM »
Does anyone know if and where I can buy coconut oil. In the UK it's sold in packs like butter and is solidified.

Thanks   :)

I use coconut Cream all the time in my Thai food, but have never used coconut oil, although it is readily available in jars in Tesco.

We use coconut oil here in the uk for our Thai cooking. Quite expensive but does seem to last a while. Never used cream. Is that made from the milk?

You can buy coconut oil in jars in Boots or other chemists, it is sold until it gets warm then it goes runny.  Its not the same as coconut milk you put in curried.  Its very good for bringing out bruises and as a remedy for dry skin.  Used to use it as a suncream years ago.  Love the smell

After doing some research I have discovered that (of course) I want organic virgin coconut oil which I doubt very much if I can get here although I will try the best chemist in Fethiye before giving up.

Here are some of the many health benefits of coconut oil

I actually want it to try "mouth pulling"   ;)

I bought cold pressed coconut oil through Gittigidiyor last month. It is a 250 gr jar and costed 19.90 TL. Cargo was three or four lira.
I use it for oil pulling and results are amazing. I assume that the jar will last me several months so worth every penny. I'll try to find the suppliers link.
