I've had some luck with planting "birds of paradise" took about five years from seed to them flowering but worked ok. Planted cherry tree in the shade in Calais but weather to hot down here, would be more successful up in the mountains. Good luck with your other planting.

I would love a pomegranate tree.   I see lots around, but never seen them in the garden centres.  Perhaps you will see them somewhere Pompey?
I would also love one of those trees with the purple flowers to grow in Scotland.  We have one in our garden in Calis.  I have taken home the seeds, but they never grow.  I wonder what those trees are called?.

Post a photo and we'll have a CBF session of Gardener's Question time.

Not looked in any of the garden centres yet for plants as waiting  until we move into our more permanent home that has enough land for me to experiment with seeds in, may try and get a blackcurrant bush over here as not seen the juice anywhere & I like a pernod(will sub with raki) & black, asked mustafa in Adrians if you could get blackcurrant here said yes & brought out black carrot with chilli juice which they drink after raki, not that pleasant although I found it slightly simaler to Tomato juice.  :-\

I remember Migros stocking a blackcurrant liqueur many years ago but the only blackcurrant cordial I've seen was in one of the pork shops and it was very expensive.

No that is not like our tree and we are not in Turkey just now to photograph it.  I brought a seed back and put it somewhere really safe to travel back and now I cannot find it.  :( :o :-[ :-\
