Operation Olive Branch
« on: January 21, 2018, 09:59:55 AM »
With the unlikely name of "Olive Branch", at 11.05am (Turkish time) Turkish tanks crossed the border into Afrin, Syria, to attack Kurdish YPG forces. It seems to me that the US has, so far, reacted remarkably mildly to one party of its anti-Daesh coalition being attacked by Turkey.

Trump may seek a diversion for his domestic Shutdown woes.  The wee fella's chancing his arm, perhaps seeking his own diversion. ??

New York Times today runs Turkey's invasion of northern Syria as its second lead. The general drift is that the US isn't happy but just doesn't know what to do about it.

I've tried to read this article four times and each time before I got to the first sentence the browser collapsed and I got a blank screen. Oooo-errrrr.

P.S. Changed my browser and managed to read it OK. So this glitch not down to AKP.
