Right that's the TL sorted for the first couple of days of my trip in September.

Is that Scunner's wallet you're looking after?

I know we are all getting a great exchange for our pound , but have the prices been inflated for meals out and drinks ??  This is were it becomes confusing for me because every year no matter what the exchange rate it sometimes feels that the prices match our pound !
or is that just me ??

Hi nichola.
Not really sure what you are asking me on your last post , with the ?
What I was asking the forum is has the prices around the bars in Calis increased to the exchange rate that we are experiencing..
I don’t really think it matters if you are only on a holiday,  I have known the rate to be under 3lira to the pound but somehow the drinks and meals  were then lower , and the money still streached, It’s just a question.
Regards

When I was over back end of July there was no increase in Kippa on general house hold products but I did notice a slight increase on effes but I assumed that was down to the annual tax increase (or is it twice yearly)  and I never noticed it in the restaurants but if they had put it up slightly its still great value for money
It am not really bothered about slight increases and when you compare it to the euro the £ to lira is and will be for a long time great value

Inflated definition - excessively or unreasonably high...

Inflation was 15% last month and exchange rates are just a part of this. Petrol is bought in $ and this affects the price of everything and we are seeing big hikes in the cost of electricity, meat, most staples and some fruit and veg.

If any business wants to stay in business beyond the end of this season then they will have to adjust their prices accordingly. That's not unreasonable or excessive and even when all things are taken into account the prices for those that are coming on holiday work out pretty favourably.

I tend to look at in the whole rather than itemise for instance in July I think the exchange rate was over 6tl to the pound (but under 7) and 4 of us went for a meal at the steak restaurant on the sea front (forgot what they called it) we had 4 mains 4 deserts a complementary fruit platter quite a few alcoholic beverages for just over 540tl that's less than £10 a head the food was some of the best we have had, If you look at it that way whats not to like

I still can't get past the calculating at 2.5TL/£ stage.

I think if I get a 540 TL bill I'd collapse before doing the maths :D

p.s. it's quite a bit more than a tenner each Peter  ;)
