Üzümlü Festival this week.
« on: September 25, 2018, 12:49:10 PM »
You may know already,
Starting Thursday afternoon running through until Sunday evening. A sort of end of grape harvest celebration. Music in the village square. Possibly lots of local and trader stalls selling crafts and foodstuffs.
Bound to be some local wine available.
It should be well worth a visit.

Awnings being stretched over the streets this evening. Corporate or trader stands appearing. We need to hide our big sun brolly tomorrow morning. Neighbours tend to borrow it for their wine stall.

Oh great, hope to come up maybe at the weekend - will you update this post tomorrow or Friday when you have a feel for what it's going to be like - maybe a few photos   :)

Maybe it'll be as good as the Mushroom Festival as that's developed so much over the years and the villagers now have a taste of what a good festival is like now...

Not sure whether festival is still on. Awnings and stalls have disappeared this morning. But the food stalls are still setting up. Some say it's cancelled, some say it's back on ? Maybe a weather related issue. Will advise later

Wonderful music in the square last night. The place was heaving. Fortunately plenty of side-streets with  eating and drinking places to relax in.  Sorry, unable to post pics. Can't figure out how to.
. The Istanbul ladies orchestra are the main feature tonight.
More stalls appearing in the square and along the Main Street early this morning. Lots of village handicrafts produced by local people. Don't forget to pop in to the " Dastar  " museum. It features authentic equipment for hand spinning and weaving.
A new business just opened is " Jenny's Deli "  Yorkshire tea and cakes and more available. Worth a visit.

Looks like the festival will finish Saturday evening in response to the severe weather warnings.
