Cafe Cafe Fethiye - A Warning
« on: November 26, 2018, 19:41:11 PM »
I know this is the Calis section but I want as many people as possible to read this.

The original post was in a Facebook group which subsequently deleted it so here goes, as I recall the tale. A couple who know Fethiye took their son/daughter in law (or the other way round!!) to Cafe Cafe in Paspatur/Umbrella Street and they enjoyed it and returned themselves some other time.

They had Kavak wine somewhere and asked for a bottle of that. The waiter said they didn’t do Kavak but had something similar.

When the bill came it was for a price of 250 lira charged for it!!!

Not knowing/thinking the couple paid and left, only realising later that it would not have been anything like that price.

It sickens me that this still happens, it ruins people’s experience of Turkey and with that it harms the whole tourism industry for all the good honest guys.

Do they still not realise that us Brits talk? With social media things get around - and at CBF we don’t delete these stories, we broadcast them from the rooftops.

You can make your own choice, but there’s plenty of honest places to spend your hard earned cash - I for one will never be seen in this place in future.

Never been in either and certainly won't bother now.
I don't know why they think it's acceptable to rip people off like that

I saw that too Keith and was appalled for the same reasons as you, also could not believe some people’s comments like “it must have been lack of communication” etc! And then it gets deleted by I guess “friends/supporters” of said establishment... It was a blantant rip off thinking the couple had just got off the banana boat...That is one of the things I love about Cbf the posts remain warts and all!

Thanks for the warning.  The more of us that know about places that do this to their customers the better.

I think I posted something similar a while back.We used to go whenever in Fethiye without issue. In 2017 we went for drinks at the start of the evening, owner was lovely as usual, sat with us,introduced his wife and new baby etc. When they left  he moved to another table and Mrs A paid the bill. When we got up the road we had been charged something like £6 per bottle of Efes.Too late to turn back but never been back either.

I didn’t go last year, although I liked it previously. I’ll choose somewhere else again this year. Establishments need to appreciate that we have so many choices and ripping off people like this ultimately loses them business and they gain very little by it.
