Locked DS Games Cassette thingy
« on: June 05, 2013, 20:05:13 PM »
A friend of ours bought one of those DS games cartridges with 2 million games on it from a stall in the Sunday Market as a present for her grandson. She gave it to him for his birthday yesterday but when he tries to play a game on his console it says "Locked". Any ideas anyone? If so please give them to me is a series of steps to try so that I can pass them on to  him. I know diddly about DS games   :)

Did you have them show you it working  when you brought it?

If you did, it will be because they don't work with all DS models as the firmware gets updated to stop such pirate copies working.

Thanks Doug - yes she did see it working but obviously the stallkeep must have a console on which all his games work.

If it was a youngish lad in Calis Sunday market he's normally very good - I have bought several game selections from him in the past and have recommended him to others who have had no problems.

I recall our games refused to work after a while and (forgive me, this is 5+ years ago) I researched it and found that it was remedied by making sure the DS time and date was correct. I can't find the info now and I can't explain why that would work but it did for us. Doesn't mean it would work for friend's grandson but a fairly easy thing to try.

I remember reading all about updating kernals and R4 card versions, but for now - here's another simpler thing to try

Hi Keith - yes it was the young lad apparently.

Thanks for the "simpler thing to try" - I wonder what it was   ;)
