Thanks again everyone for all your help and suggestions, I am making progress after a lot of kerfufal with the thing being locked due to us putting in wrong info and that was just trying to get logged on!!!
I am getting the hang of the apps thing and have downloaded several, I shall look for the Kindle app I had hoped you could download books to it, I am today going to try and see about getting some music on to it!  ;)

You can download books to your computer or laptop then send them to yourself in an email. Open the email on your ipad, and you can open them in either kindle app or iBooks depending on what format they are.

Can anyone recommend a free anti virus for Windows 8?  I used AVG on my previous laptop successfully but it doesn't seem to work the same on Windows 8.  Thanks in advance

No reason why AVG shouldn't work.  Got it running quite successfully on several of a clients laptops.

AVG & Win 8/8.1

Picking up on Panda Anti Virus, all my business customers use it. They do a free cloud anti virus which I install for people who don't want to purchase any AV software. It is currently Number 3 in the download chart on filehippo. I used to install AVG as a free AV, but it kept finding to many 'false positives' and the filesize was huge. Panda is small to download, lightweight on system resources and pretty simple to use.

I would reocmmend using this, and once every few weeks running a scan with malwarebytes, again, you can get a free version of this.

You can get Panda, paid or free version from  www.cloudantivirus.com
