« on: October 27, 2010, 22:11:55 PM »
5 years ago i brought an apartment in Fethiye, the full asking price was
paid. I have the Tapu in my and my wifes name.
Today 27/10/2010 the builder wants another £20,000 off of me.
Where do i stand.

Hi Ken

If you have the tapu in your name(s) and no outstanding agreement covering a figure £20,000 then you owe nobody anything. Relax, forget mate. No builder on the planet would sign the tapu into your name if he was owed 20 grand, that just doesn't happen.

He's probably short of cash and thought he would try it on. If he comes back offer to take him to the police to sort it out. He'll soon get the message.

It took a long time & a lot of heartache to get the Tapu from the Landowner.  All because the builder left HIM in the lurch. I agree with Stoop.  Unless there's a charge on the Tapu - it's yours free & clear. Tell the builder to talk to your lawyer!!
