M/S Office 2010 or 2013
« on: July 16, 2015, 21:54:44 PM »
I have just bought a new laptop and thought I could transfer my office 2010 licence over to the new but it wont let me.
Does anyone know of a work around?
The download for free sites I see on Google look like they are only the trial versions.
If I need to buy one anyone know of any good deals I don't fancy paying £80 odd for something I already own but can't use on my old laptop.

I had to return a Windows Tablet and when the new one came I needed to unlock MS Office on it and of course it said the licence was in use. There was an automated phone system I rang and it was easy to get the licence transferred. Easy, but I can't remember exactly what the process was.

That may help you search, but I will try and recall the procedure for you.

Ok I thunk a bit now

You install Office (or activate the trial if it is pre-installed) - put in the ID number and get the Sorry - this copy of...etc message. Then there should be a message with options. One is a number to call and you go through steps and it gives you some groups of numbers - you have to key these into the phone and a magical moment happens and your old Office is now unlocked.

Or something :D

Try it - as I said it was quite an easy process and I was surprised to go back to my new Tab and all was unlocked and legit  :)

Yes, I tried ringing MS and they did not recognise the key so that was a non starter.
I then downloaded an app last night which extracts the key from your software. I did that on the old Lappy and found the correct key, I had 1 letter wrong  :  :) :-[. Went to the download site with new lappy and put key in. Jobs a good un.

So I now have it on both old and new?

Thanks for your suggestions.

Well I don't know if I have it on old and new because the old went back to HP - but I have a feeling it is on both. Seems an easy way to get Office on two devices - not like Microsoft that?
