The UK - Tough on Crime
« on: October 13, 2007, 00:24:32 AM »
I am heartened to read that in the UK, two unrelated cases of convicted rapists having their sentances referred and increased.

One a rape of a 12 year old child, the other a ten year old.

The two will now serve four years instead of the original sentance of two.

Crime and punishment in the UK is fast becoming something of a joke, although I fail to find anything remotely funny.

In the reportedly less civilised country of Mexico, it is not uncommon in such cases for prison officials to hand the keys over to the locals to allow them to administer justice.

I'm not claiming that is right, I'm claiming that it is the UK seems to be wrong, and wildly adrift from public opinion.
