Hi guys, I haven't been on here for yonks but really need your help! My delightful estranged husband has apparently got married to a nice Turkish girl, just one small problem, as far as I'm aware hes still married to me! Can he divorce me without me knowing about it? Can anybody help me out with this?

Bigamist.... YES
Sorry to hear it must be very stressful for you

A petition would have been issued to you and you would have at to acknowledged it.The court then sends the respondent the acknowledgement to your husband (the petitioner ) the district judge issues a decree Nisi to you  then a degree absolute is applied for .
This is what I remember of the procedure.

I would not him get away with it I would definitely report him to the authorities .Good luck Janice

Speak to Sule,  it's a bit too important to take advice from random Web sites or forum members.  You need to ensure your kid's rights relating their father are protected.

Good luck.

No, you're not told - I include myself in the "random forum member" category when the subject is as important as this, even though I work for a law firm in Istanbul and could make a fairly decent stab (i.e. educated guess) at answering the OP's question.

There are some scenarios where professionals know best.

And divorceinturkey.org members are unlikely to be as intelligent as what we are on CBF 8)

Looks like divorceinturkey.org are connected to Beacon law, a firm that specialises in "personal injury" claims - the type of firm that are often described (but not by me of course) as ambulance chasers.

They have no listed partners admitted to any Turkish Bar Associations which suggests that in addition to being more intelligent, CBF members are also likely to be more knowledgeable about Turkish law!

I know who my first port of call would be...

Like I said it was with good intentions I don't think it was necessary to be rewarded with such bluntness

I don't think John directed his comment at you patrice, more at forum members in general. We're all amateur lawyers on forums  ;) The point was more that it is a critical situation and such situations need fully qualified advice.

I have had dealings with Sule myself, she was helping me, thank God. Anyone that gets the Sule hit, stays hit. You wouldn't wish her on your hated bigamist estranged husband. Actually, she'd be just the job for this :D

It wasn't directed at you personally - as Keith said, it was a general condemnation in which I also included myself.
