Are there new rules for Relatives staying in your villa?
« on: February 12, 2024, 10:01:54 AM »
Hi Everyone,
First of all I would just like to say how sad it is that this forum seems to be drifting into dormancy.  I have never been a prolific poster but I do check in almost every day to look at any new posts.  Over the years this has been a wealth of helpful and useful information.  So many members with so much knowledge of the area, and so often able to help with simple, and often not so simple, questions and situations.  Even those who just post the occasional photo of the area can bring a smile to many who are missing it and looking forward to their next trip.
I do hope that it can continue and thrive.

Anyway ...... I have a question please.
A few years ago they changed the rules so that anyone who wanted to rent out had to register and to provide ID details of any guests to the local Jandarma.  The effect was that you either rented out "professionally" or just did not rent out.  It sort of did away with the casual "mates rates" renting, to friends.  My understanding was that if guests stayed with you whilst you were there then that as OK, and also you could let immediate family stay when you were not there.
Someone told me the other day that they have changed the rules again and it is not as simple now to let immediate family stay and that ID has to be produced to the Jandarma.
I am not sure how accurate this is, what the new rules are, or quite how you would have to comply.  I ask because we have three adult sons, with their own families, who use our villa for holidays.
Is anyone able to answer this please.

Yes there are new rules now, effectively saying the the only people allowed to stay at your villa, are the people named on the Tapu. family can stay there but only whilst you are there otherwise they are liable for a fine.

You can follow Calis beach forum on Facebook now under the same name. all the information you need is available there,

Its an absolute minefield and many people are thinking of selling up as calis is no longer the little gem it once was

Many thanks for the reply - sounds very draconian - let's hope they don't police it too actively.  Goodness knows how you are supposed to comply.
Thanks for the info on using the forum via Facebook, but I do not use Facebook and have no desire to do so.  I think there is a maximum age limit and I am probably over it  ;D.
Let's hope that enough people continue to use this great site.

Al properties that do short term rental of 100 days or less need to be licensed. All visitors must have “permits”to stay in the property Unless they are staying with the owner or are 1st line relative of the owner ie mother, father, children.Brothers, cousins, aunts etc not included.
