Well slickmrs, this winter was one of the best I have known in Calis,
And most people I have spoke to agree with me,
If you. Feel the cold that bad,I should come over in the summer when its in the 100s,
Or move into a hotel with heating in the winter,

Davybill, if I lived in Calis I probably wouldn,t be considering a winter in the uk.  I do live in Ovacik, and have been holidaying in the sun for a lot of years.

I dont know how you can compare a Turkish winter with winter in the Uk. My second home is in Ovacik and have been out for the last 4 Christmas holidays. Lovely bright sunny days not grey miserable grey wet ones. Just before sundown we light the log burner and cosy up in front of the fire. Last Christmas was beautiful, we were in shorts and t shirts during the day. Give me Turkey any day.

It is at night that thing tend to get chilly, particularly in Ovacik, but the days can often be sunny and warm.  So for me it is a matter of getting yourself set up for the chillier nights, with fires, clothing and other heating.  Or go out occasionally during the evening to a warm destination, in your area I would recommend the excellent Morning Star on quiz night for example.

However I can understand the draw of family and earning a couple of bob, but there is something I really like about the autumn and winter period in Turkey, and it would be something I would miss.

Sorry slikmrs, but it appears you may have supplied the answer to your original post.

I think you already know what I think, Bernie.

But just in case there's any doubt:

Man up!

We have decided to give winter another go after all.  Ovacik is lovely, despite my moaning about the weather there,I do feel it,s the place for us. Like ubt said, I will be more prepared for winter and need to get up morning star.

Thanks all

Yep forewarned is forearmed and now you know pretty much what to expect. We had some cold times no matter what we did there, but if I miss any time over there, it's winter.
