Title: cost of living
Post by: Melek abli on March 25, 2008, 21:52:42 PM
I know this is down to the individual but how much will it cost my husband and I to live in Fethiye per month for food, water, elec and of course a few lucnces out and couple of evenings a month. A rough figure would be good. Just need to know how much money to come over with so we can live off the interest. Thanks

That is the biggest 'how long is a piece of string' question on here I'm afraid - will you buy a car? What size engine? How old? Where will you have your lunches? Efes or whisky on your nights out?

And that is just a few questions you need to know to even get close :(

Hi Melek

There was an article about this in last weeks "Land of Lights" newspaper.   www.landoflights.net

Can't remember the exact percentages but there were couples/households living off 400-600 GBP per month, 600-800 and a small percentage over 1000 GBP per month.   Having asked a few ex pats over here most of them say they live off an amount between 600-800 GBP per month but like Scunner said it all depends on what standard of living you are thinking of.   A lot of people don't run a car out here as that can prove expensive as fuel costs a lot in Turkey.
Good luck with the move and welcome to the forum.
Julie  :)
