£ 616,850 per bed
« on: January 27, 2015, 22:42:24 PM »
The new South Glasgow University Hospital has today been handed over by the builders and is presumably a fantastic new facility.

But at a time when NHS budgets are under stress does the cost of £ 842 m represent value for money.

Cameron announced today that the British Government will put 50 million pounds toward the building of a striking memorial for the Holocaust which happened 70 years ago.
So, I wonder do people in Britain think that spending 50 million on a memorial is a good idea when the NHS is in such a mess?

I would much rather the £50m goes on the NHS.

It is - it rivals similar facilities in countries where the healthcare is privately funded.

Yes.

£50m on a memorial is ridiculous.  The holocaust should never be forgotten but I am sure a suitable memorial can be erected for a fraction of that cost.  It is the event that should be remembered not the cost of honouring it.

There is an abundance of Holocaust Memorials and if they are insistent on giving away
50 million pounds perhaps they could give it to the women and children that survived
last years Holocaust in Gaza.

Well said Kevin.    I realise that the victims of the supposed " holocaust " were not all Jews, but Jews are the ones who refuse to "let it go ", and are the most venal tribe of people in the whole world, and also the richest individuals in the world are Jews . If they want a 50 million pound memorial, let them pay for it , not the greater British public. Mind you, Cameron has Jewish blood in his veins, so it comes as no surprise really, but , at a time when our fantastic National Health Service is struggling, to chuck tax-payers money at this insult to Christians and Gentiles alike, is an abomination.

It is not just Jews who "won't let it go"; it is me as well - and many other non-Jews I am sure. As to whether we should spend £50 million on the memorial or the NHS - what a completely bogus comparison. What has one to do with the other? Why not ask whether we should be spending billions on HS2 or on the NHS; should we be spending billions on Trident or on the NHS; should we be spending money on filling in potholes or the NHS? Claptrap.
