Missing Fethiye
« on: October 12, 2017, 14:50:52 PM »
Not been in Turkey for a while after 12 years there. Always loved  the Fethiye /Calis/Uzumlu area and miss seeing it

Is it still as great as ever folks?

saoirse, apart from a few more neon signs, all other changes are improvements INHO. Most places are much cleaner and I love it.

Is Belfast still as good as you remember it? Every place changes. Some like , or accept, change others don't.

We're 5 days into a three week stay and loving it! Still plenty of people about even though it's mid October. Weather brilliant. Yes, there have been changes since we started coming in 2002, and some people will say it has lost it's charm/character but most of the changes are for the better. The walk along the new kordon into Fethiye, with all the new restaurants is lovely and Fethiye itself has improved imho. All places change over the years, it's no different here but we'll still keep coming.

This is our first time staying Calis as opposd to our usual Fethiye haunt and I have to say how nicely surprising it is to discover that there is more to this place than the road from the "undolphined" roundabout to the beach/Kordon cafe's.

Barris Manco and it's side roads have lots of lovely markets/cafes etc;(though there seem to be a lot of Migros "Jets" there).
We now regularily stop off for breakfast in BabaFirin ( Daddy's Kitchen) for a faboulous brekkies of fresh baked goodies. The menu outside the Secret Garden next to Baba's looks inviting too, lots of "steak" things.
Also, I am not ashamed to admit that, as yet, we have not even been to a beach. Peferring instead the pool at our complex and a sunbathe after.

Another two weeks before our return to UK, not really looking forward to that. :(
