I'm in the market for a new laptop and would like to buy one in Fethiye, has anyone bought here and can you recommend anywhere? I know I will pay a bit more than I would in the UK.
I could get one brought out from the UK but if I had any problems it would be a right pain getting it back and forth for repair/replacement etc.
Currently using a 6 year old Acer Travelmate running WinXP which is still working well, but need a bit more hard drive space and an OS update. I'm looking for one with Win 7 - don't fancy Win 8 at all.

You're going to pay a big premium if you want 1 with an English keyboard.

Hi KKOB, not bothered about the keyboard, if I can get the OS in English the keyboard can be changed. I've seen some in Kipa or Migros with a full QWERTY keyboard plus the Turkish letters so shouldn't be a problem. I hope !! Not sure what the supermarkets after sales is like though.

Got my wife a Galaxy Tab from Elecro-world. No problems with it.

If you're happy with a Turkish keyboard then I'd recommend Teknosa. They're aftersales service is good too.

Bimek are also very good on service if you do encounter a problem.

Try Techno in Fethiye, just along from Carrefour by the ottogar, brand new shop. very large selection of electrical goods, wide selection of laptops. and yes you can get engish with english keyboard. i dont think you will get a new one with windows 7 though, as in the uk all new ones are been sold with windows 8, will cost more than uk of course, but as we all know, most electrical goods cost more in turkey. i have had my laptop windows 7 for nearly 4 years and have just upgraded to windows 8 online. no problem with it at all, but if you are on xp or vista you will need to reinstall some progams and files. hope this helps.

Bimek is, if you stand with the PTT behind you in Fethiye, across the road, first shop on left, past the bank on the corner.

Sorry Lee,that should read Electroworld, on the left hand side of the main road into town,just before the school footbridge over the road and the mosque and dolmus terminal.

I'd still get one from the UK and take my chances that it won't need anything sorted under warranty.

Well they are pretty much the same thing really - but yes, I'd expect to find a much better deal in the UK.

I bought an Exper one from their shop on the 22 metre road near the ESNAF junction.
Pricewise it was actually cheaper than a same spec UK sourced DELL as I got a reasonable discount over the book price.
The shop recieve an ''empty'' machine and load it with the programmes - but they added a few extras at no charge - MS office full package and upgrades to windows 7 ultimate from the standard package, also included was Türkçe keyboard but with english OS.
Backup has been good, the battery failed to charge after 14 months new one supplied next day.

There is a private computer shop alongside the canal opposite Migros. From Calis you reach Migros, go across the junction and turn right just over canal. The shop is just down there on the left. He recently built me a laptop using a new Dell body and included 6gb memory. core 15. Windows 7 English version (sourced from Izmir) wifi , bluetooth, Nod antivirus. camera etc. for 1200 Lira. 2 years guarantee. Cheaper than most shops in Fethiye for same contents and as I say English Windows 7. I have had no problems whatsoever with it.
