Expat Shield / UK internet TV

Anyone used this software before ?
http://www.expatshield.com/
My stepson currently lives in Gran Canaria, when he was home in November I installed it on his laptop. In laymans terms when you are on the internet it makes the sites you are visiting think you are in the uk, so it allows him to use ITV player, BBC iplayer etc on whilst abroad. The best bit is it's also free ;o)

I think it's similar to the uktv thingy I have noticed in the satellite forum, but that you have to pay for ?
We have sky tv at home, so he uses our skygo login to watch all the sky tv channels also.

Just be interested if anyone else has used it before, he says it works well most of the time

we use it sometimes, it tends to work when the internet signal is low and UKTV access doesn't. The only thing I dont like is it opens lots of pages and you suddenly hear advertising playing and you have to close the pages.
Otherwise its ok, but I prefer to pay around a fiver a month for UKTV Access as its not so annoying!

Helpful tip: Open expat shield so it's logged on then close that browser window then open iplayer or similar from a new browser window, no double sound problems & no adverts!
