Looks like Calis is getting another Pork Shop. The Gourmet Pork Shop seems to be in the process of opening on the main Calis to Fethiye road. Its located just after the Seckin Restaurant and Ay Pilic chicken shop (opposite the new marina)as you are going to Fethiye from Calis.

Has anyone ever seen a live pig in Turkey?

I think the last pig farm in Turkey closed down around 2008 / 09. The AKP made it impossible for them to carry-on by closing and / or de-licencing the abattoirs. They didn't outlaw pig farming but they made it impossible for them to be slaughtered and processed.

If you cast your mind back to the days when Greg "The Sausage King" was starting his business in Turkey, this was the greatest obstacle. He had plans to import some live pigs and breed them in Turkey, but when it came to killing and processing them he came up against a bureaucratic brickwall.

So, the Pork shops must be importing the Pork from abroad?  I know the bacon is Danish and very nice too.
It was sad about Greg, his sausages and burger were lovely.

I think its bit expensive seeing as bacon will cost more per kilo than bon fillet steak. :o
