Title: Turkish by distance learning
Post by: Cavfan on June 24, 2004, 16:21:20 PM
http://www.turkish-center.com/
Whilst looking for something quite unrelated I happened across this site which looks very good. It has courses at basic, intermediate and advanced and is reasonably priced. There are even 90 day fast tracks- just in time for our next trip. Might be worth a look.

Hi Cavfan, I had a look at the site a few days ago and it looks really good. I think it will require daily commitment but will be worth it. Unfortunately there isn't time before our next visit which is a week Thursday :D When we return we shall have a go at it.

for those interested in distance learning I have been using some excellent book/CD packs. they are from the 'Teach youself' range available from most good book shops. they are clear and easy to follow and cost around £25 for a set
Regards, Karen

I am enrolling on a course in September at our local college £109 for 30 lessons as the thing i am missing now is conversation
good luck everyone who is serious about learning. i think generally the english are very lazy when it comes to learning other languages even when we do decide to live abroad we expect everyone to speak English! It is a good job the turks are not the same!

Cavfan, I have tried subscribing to the distance learning center with the link you gave and it will not accepte my details however many times I try. Have you actually managed to subscribe to it yourself ?

Hi Sez1, I think that this website should be ignored from the experiences that you and I have had. Although it is 'supported' by Ankara University, I think it is American from the spelling that they use. I shall continue to try learning Turkish by visiting the county more often.

Congratulations on your third star, Cavfan. I am now subscribed to http://www.onlineturkish.com and I am finding it very good. There is grammar involved but I find it a good means of learning the language. It isn't very expensive either.
