Title: Online Learining ?
Post by: IanK on May 19, 2007, 11:32:13 AM
Has anyone tried learning Turkish using an online or CD course ?

I think I've seen the Rosetta Stone software advertised on this web site somewhere - has anyone any experience ?

Thanks

Ian

Yes, I've used PDQ Linguaphone and Rosetta Stone discs. Bought both sets on Ebay. Very good for learning the basics and getting the pronunciation right.

Linguaphone is also very useful if you need to find a florist's in Istanbul ! :D

Thanks KKOB,

were both courses similar or would you recommend one in particular ?

both completely different set up, Rosetta you have to sit in front of pc and click on the correct phrases. Linguaphone you can play in the car, its amazing how much goes in the subconscious, as KKOB says very useful for the florist     yakkinde cicekci var mi     is there a flower shop near by !

www.turkishclass.com is very good, and also you can download the whole federal state turkish from
http://fsi-language-courses.com/Turkish.aspx  but this doesn't have anything written - it is a series of vocabulary and grammar drills , more useful when you get to intermediate level

so many resources available, but if you're not very disciplined best to attend a lesson each week if you can
